Newry and District Anglers arose out of the Newry, Bessbrook
and District Anglers which has ceased to function in 1955.
In 1964 a number of fishermen from the area met with a
view of reviving the club, the club at this time was mainly
coarse angling and hosted the Ulster open for a number of
years, in the late 1970's there was a break in the club and
the resulted in the Newry & District Anglers Association
directing all it's efforts on developing game angling in the
area.
The club has evolved over the years to it's present format
and welcomes anglers from all areas. The club membership has
been held at a reasonable cost with no increase in the last
number of years, while still maintaining quality fishing on
the clubs waters.
